The manicurist program at Baldwin Beauty School is a comprehensive program that includes manicuring, pedicuring, and nail esthetics for men and women. The curriculum incorporates classroom demonstration and hands-on client work in the full-service Student Salon. Students will use only top brand beauty supplies for students’ and clients’ benefits. Brands used include Creative Nail Design and OPI. Course topics include manicures, pedicures, polish techniques, nail art, nail enhancements, nail cosmetics, body systems, anatomy of the skin, bones of the hands, legs, and feet, massage techniques, microbiology and infection control, diseases and disorders of the skin, and bacteriology, sanitation, and sterilization. Students must complete the required hours as contracted on the Enrollment Agreement, take and pass written examination with a grade 70 or above, pass all practical lab activities with 70 or letter grade C or above, and complete exit paperwork and complete financial aid exit counseling to graduate from the program.

Nuvani Institute

The Cosmetology Manicure Specialist program at Nuvani Institute teaches students the fundamental requirements of manicuring to enable graduates to perform the services normally associated with manicuring, including nail preparation, implement, materials, safety, and procedures necessary to meet the licensing requirements of the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. The school frequently updates the curriculum to reflect current trends in the industry. Students will use the latest equipment and supplies to become familiar with the most up-to-date technologies. Course topics include manicuring orientation, manicuring procedures, arms and hands, nerves, chemistry in manicuring, and professional practices. Students must complete the total program hours, progress in both academic as well as practical training, and maintain an average of at least 70% on both academic and clinical work to complete the program.  Graduates will be ready to take the state licensing exam to become a licensed manicuring.

Cosmetology Manicure Specialist

Bella Beauty College

The nail technician program at Bella Beauty College prepares students for licensure in the State of Texas. The program will emphasize new breakthroughs in product technologies, application techniques, and business strategies. The program is delivered in two phases. Phase one covers the basics including manicuring, pedicures, nail extensions, gel polish and acrylics. It will emphasize the practice and presentation to develop knowledge and techniques. Phase two aims to develop skill and speed and focuses on terminology, technique, training, and practicing on customers. The entire program highlights practical activities conducted in the student salon. Part-time and full-time schedules are available for both day and evening students.

The manicuring program at Central Texas Beauty College provides students with the best manicuring education available. Students will also receive support to excel in the classroom, hands-on training in the classroom and student salon, and various class sizes to meet students’ needs. Course topics include nail technician procedures, bacteriology, sanitation, safety, professional practices, arms and hands, rules and laws, equipment, supplies, and implements. The program will also include preparation for the state licensing exam. New classes begin several times per year.

  • Submit documentation showing proof of age. Must be 17 years or older. Documentation includes birth certificate, driver’s license, or state issued ID or passport
  • Submit documentation demonstrating completion of high school or its equivalent – high school diploma or transcript, GED, evidence of completing home school, or passing score on a standardized exam

Program cost:

The program cost of $5,600 includes tuition, fees, books, and supplies. Fees include TDLR permit fee and Central Texas Beauty College registration fee.

William Edge Institute

The manicure program at William Edge Institute helps students develop the skills needed to become a licensed manicurist. The curriculum includes both theory and practical skills needed to provide various manicuring and pedicuring services. It covers complete training in sculpted nails, nail wraps, soft and hard gels, and nail art. Course modules include orientation, rules, laws, and preparation, equipment, implements, and supplies, manicure, pedicure, and artificial nail procedures, bacteriology, sanitation and safety, professional practices, anatomy, skin and nail diseases, and nail disorders. The full-time program meets Tuesday through Saturday from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.

  • Submit a true copy of birth certificate or alien registration form and driver’s license or passport and social security card as proof of compulsory age for attendance
  • Provide two passport photos or be prepared to have picture taken
  • Pay the State Board Registration fee of $25
  • Must be prepared to pay the kit fee

Tuition for the program is $6,200. The student kit and sales tax cost $1,299.

Southern Careers Institute

The nail technician program at SCI Texas covers art and science that will enable students to provide manicuring and pedicuring services to various clients. The program is delivered in a fun and engaging way to help students grasp complex principles in nail care. The curriculum covers everything needed to prepare for the TDLR licensing exam. The school also facilitates an in-house externship that will let students train in a real salon environment before graduating from the program. The program is delivered as a daytime program.
