Austin Massage Academy

Austin Massage Academy offers an easy and affordable massage therapy program to prepare students for success on the national massage licensing exam. Theory and practical instruction provide students with the tools to become capable massage therapists and business owners. Course topics include sports and deep tissue massage, Swedish massage, human anatomy and physiology, pregnancy massage, pathology, kinesiology, hydrotherapy, human health and hygiene, and business and ethics. Students will complete a 50-hour internship as part of the program. They are eligible for entry when they are halfway through the program. Classes meet on weekday evenings and one weekend day. Graduates are eligible to sit for the MBLEx.

  • Must have a GPA of at least 2.0
  • Applicants with a GPA of less than 2.0 must take the Wonderlic Entrance Exam and score at least a 14 for admission to the massage program

Avenue Five Institute

Avenue Five Institute offers a fully accredited Massage Therapy program. The 750-hour program is approved by established national standards (Nationally Accredited by the NACCAS). The comprehensive training includes hands-on experience and industry support. The curriculum has been developed in collaboration with national massage leaders, industry experts, and local employers. Course topics anatomy and physiology, pathology for massage, kinesiology, hydrotherapy, sanitation, safety and hygiene, American Heart Association CPR and First Aid, professional ethics, Swedish massage techniques, pregnancy massage, chair massage, deep tissue techniques, therapeutic massage techniques, client consultation and assessment, aromatherapy, body wraps, foot scrubs, exfoliation, hot and cold stone massage, energy work, massage for special populations, and massage internship. The Lauterstein-Conway Massage School

The massage therapy program at The Lauterstein-Conway Massage School takes a holistic approach to incorporate both the Art and Science of touch to engage mind, body, and soul in learning and growth. The curriculum blends the optimal mix of massage theory and practical applications to provide students with an unmatched education. Course topics include sports and deep tissue massage, Swedish massage, deep massage: the Lauterstein method, clinical massage therapy, kinesiology, pathology, hydrotherapy, chair massage, pregnancy massage, internship, business practice and ethics, and health and hygiene. Students will participte in a 50-hour internship to apply the theoretical principles in a professional setting. Graduates are eligible to take the MBLEX exam and the Massage Therapist Jurisprudence exam to obtain a massage therapist license in Texas. Morning, evening, and weekend schedules are available.

Austin Community College – Northridge Campus

The massage therapy program offered by ACC combines classroom lectures with hands-on learning in a lab setting and a massage internship. Students will acquire knowledge and skills to take the TDLR exam for licensure as a massage therapist and qualify for entry-level positions in salons, spas, and other settings. Students will learn how to assess soft tissue condition, joint quality and range of motion, develop and propose specific massage treatment plans, use complementary treatments such as infrared lamps, wet compresses and whirlpool baths, and prepare and blend oils for use in therapeutic massages. Course modules include fundamentals, health and hygiene, anatomy and physiology for massage, hydrotherapy, pathology for massage, business practices and professional ethics, kinesiology for massage, internship for massage therapy. Graduates must pass the required exams and apply to TDLR to practice as a massage therapist in the state.

Texas Massage Academy offers a convenient and flexible hybrid massage therapy program to prepare students for a career as a massage therapist. Students will 46% of the training online and the hands-on requirements will be completed on campus. They will learn techniques such as deep tissue therapy, trigger point therapy, range of motion assessments, client assessments, myofascial release, and good body mechanics. The school maintains a low student-to-teacher ratio to maintain its commitment to individual attention for all students. Evening classes meet Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm. Day classes meet Mondays through Thursdays from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.
