Cosmetologists find joy, purpose, and a deep sense of pride when they help others look their best even in trying times. The industry has been a safe haven for beauty professionals in times of severe economic downturns in the past. The global pandemic has affected the industry as salons, along with many other businesses, have been forced to close their doors to maintain their own health and the health of others. But the industry and the professionals who are committed to beauty and fashion are resilient. Cosmetology schools have adjusted to the new normal by offering their programs in hybrid or fully online format. Graduates will then take the licensure exam in person as the first step to practice as a licensed cosmetologist. The world may never be the same, but cosmetologists will prevail and find new and creative ways to meet their customers’ need to feel good by looking fabulous.
