Apart from being able to do what you love, cosmetology as a career offers many exciting rewards. As an outlet to express your creativity, cosmetology is incomparable. Haircutting, coloring, styling, nail art, and makeup application techniques follow specific trends that change throughout the year, yet will give you the opportunity to add your own style to match that of your client. The personal satisfaction that each client enjoys from your service will ensure your longevity in the business and that will increase as your build a following of loyal patrons. Cosmetologists have a broad stream of services they can provide, so you won’t be limited to a hair salon if that’s not what you want. You can work as a makeup artist specializing in bridal makeup, film, or fashion, operate your own salon, or work for a distributor of beauty products specializing in demonstrations or sales. Now is as good a time as any to enroll in a cosmetology program to prepare for licensure in Texas and entry-level employment in the industry. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), employment in the beauty industry is showing no signs of slowing down and will continue its upward trend in the next decade.
