The Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation regulates the profession, and while registration is required for practice, you don’t need to complete an exam as in other states. To become eligible for registration, you must complete an approved program consisting of 220 hours for a facial specialist or 400 hours for a full specialist. All applicants for registration must also complete the mandatory HIV/AIDS training which is a four-hour long program included in most accredited programs. The registration fee is $75. The Registration must be renewed biennially and requires the completion of 10 continuing education hours.

Attendance to the all the program hours is state-mandated – 100% attendance is required for completion. The program leads to an esthetics certificate that will enable students to for licensure in the state.  The program is a limited access program. Day and evening classes are available. The facial specialty program at Jacksonville Health & Beauty School prepares students for the Florida state requirements of a Facial Specialist. The curriculum covers 260 clock hours of technical instruction and practical operations covering all aspects of Facial Technology. The esthiology program at Aveda Institute prepares students to provide a range of services such as facials, manicures, and pedicures. At 600 clock hours, the program exceeds Florida State training requirements for licensure as an esthetician. The esthetics program at Alpha School of Massage provides hands-on experience that students to begin a successful career as an Esthetician. The curriculum exceeds the educational training requirements set by the State of Florida to give students additional training required by employers. Florida Academy of Medical Aesthetics

The Skin Care Diploma program at Florida Academy of Medical Aesthetics exceeds the Florida State requirements for licensure as an esthetician. The program covers 280 contact hours of theory and hands-on training. Students will learn external and internal factors that cause skin cells to degenerate and techniques to assist clients.
