Plumbing is a physically demanding job that goes beyond fixing leaky faucets and unclogging drains. Plumbers are skilled professionals who assemble, install, and repair pipes and fixtures. Without them, we would not readily access water in our taps or waste disposal. The World Health Organization classified plumbers among the most critical frontline health workers. It would be impossible to maintain health without clean water and effective waste disposal.
Plumbing may not attract hordes of candidates, but there are many reasons to enter this noble profession. The fact that very few people consider it a career choice is a benefit in itself as it means you’ll always have work. Plumbers are always in demand, even in the lowest economic downtime. Another great reason to choose a plumber is the low start-up cost. Plumbing certificate programs are short-term and affordable and are all you need to begin working at the entry-level. Through paid internships, you’ll have the opportunity to earn while you learn. At the conclusion of your training, the sky is the limit as far as your income earning potential goes. You can upgrade your skills to become a master plumber or start your own business for greater flexibility and financial rewards.
