The Automotive Service Technician Technical Certificate (T.C.) prepares students for entry into the automotive repair industry. The program consists of the first 20 credit hours of the Automotive Service Management Technology AAS degree program and four credits of professional electives. Course topics include introduction to automotive technology, steering and suspension, brake systems, electrical systems, and air conditioning and heating. Professional electives include automotive internship, automotive series lab, the connected car: autonomous systems and diagnosis, advanced driver assistance systems and diagnosis, and introduction to business. Students must obtain a minimum of grade C or higher in all professional coursework. Graduates will demonstrate proficiency in steering and suspension systems, heating and air conditioning systems, and engines.

J-Tech Institute

The Automotive Technology Program at J-Tech Institute is a hands-on program that prepares students for work in the automotive industry. The curriculum will cover the essentials of automotive maintenance, diagnostics, and repair as well as training on electrical systems, HVAC, engine performance, suspension, steering, brake systems, transmission diagnosis and repair, and more. Students will develop skills through practical experiences in a fully equipped shop, designed to function like a real garage in the workplace. The program is designed around the eight Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) repair categories and certifications. First Coast Technical Institute

Students enrolled in the automotive technology program at First Cost Technical Institute will learn how to analyze, diagnose, and repair foreign, domestic, and alternative fuel vehicles in a high-tech precision industry. They will use advanced diagnostic equipment in the school’s modern facility to troubleshoot and repair complex automotive systems and maintain, repair and fine-tune a wide range of vehicles alongside an ASE Master Technician in a full-service automotive center. Course topics include automobile services assistor, automotive brake system technician, automobile suspension and steering, automotive electrical/electronic systems, engine repair technician, automotive engine performance, automatic transmission and transaxle technician, manual drivetrain, and automotive health and air conditioning technician. Graduates will be prepared for ASE certification.
