The HVAC Diploma program at Remington College is delivered in hybrid format. The curriculum provides in-depth training in HVAC systems and includes hands-on training required for the maintenance and troubleshooting of complex heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems including commercial and industrial systems. It covers the guidelines of the National Skill Standards for HVAC technicians. Course topics include Career Development Fundamentals, Career Development Principles, Basic Refrigeration Theory, Fundamental HVAC Maintenance, Basic Electricity, Residential AC, Motors and Motor Control, Commercial Refrigeration Systems, Heat Pumps and Hydronic Health, and Ventilation and Air Flow. The AAS Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Technology program at Dallas College provides students with the training required to function as HVAC technicians in residential, commercial, and industrial settings. Students will learn the fundamental principles in the classroom followed by practical sessions in the school’s lab and in real-world settings. There will be a special emphasis on commercial and industrial air conditioning and refrigeration during the second year. Hands-on session will highlight operation and troubleshooting of medium and low temperature refrigeration and chilled water air conditioning systems. Course modules include basic electricity for HVAC, refrigeration principles, air conditioning control principles, heat pumps, gas and electric heating, residential air conditioning, commercial refrigeration, air conditioning troubleshooting, conditioning and refrigeration, energy management, advanced air conditioning controls, and cooperative education – heating air conditioning and refrigeration. Lincoln Tech’s HVAC training program prepares adults to fill the need for skilled HVAC technicians in the Dallas area. The career-focused training includes theory and hands-on activities taught by Certified Master HVAC Educators who are committed to continued professional development. Students will benefit from Lincoln’s partnership with Hussmann who provides a TechX Advanced Training facility on campus. Hussmann covers tuition, room, board, and transportation for Lincoln Tech graduates accepted into the program. Tech Zone HVAC-R

Tech Zone’s HVAC program includes classroom study and hands on sessions to train students as if they were on the job. The lab sessions will amplify the classroom sessions and give students the opportunity to apply the skills learned. There will be an emphasis on  electrical and mechanical components of residential and commercial systems as well as diagnosing problems according to the heat transfer and the pressure/temperature relationship. Students will practice on control boards which simulate components of the HVAC system. They will also learn how to wire air handlers and condensers and analyze and test capacitors using meters to determine the common, start and run windings on a compressor to also diagnose compressors for open, shorts or a ground. The Basic Refrigeration, Heating and Air Conditioning (HVAC-R) Program at Premier Technical Institute provides students with the skills and competencies necessary to provide entry-level central heating and air and basic refrigeration on residential and commercial units. Students will learn primarily through hands-on experiences in the classroom and lab. They must complete 90 percent of the scheduled clock hours and obtain a GPA of 2.0 or above to graduate from the program. The graduate will receive a Certificate of Completion and qualify for employment as an HVAC technician. Day classes meet Monday through Saturday from 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM for full-time students. The part-time night class will be held on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM. The part-time Saturday class meets on Saturdays only from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM.
