Completing an esthetician program comprising of at least 600 hours of theory and practical work and passing the Arizona State Board Exam is required for practice in the state. The Studio Academy of Beauty

The esthetician program at The Studio Academy of Beauty teaches the skills needed to provide skin care services. Experienced faculty will teach the science of skincare, chemistry, and facial and body treatment techniques. Areas of study include face and body waxing, product knowledge, eyebrow and eyelash tinting, massaging techniques, sanitation, sterilization, disease and infection, skin disorders, hair growth and removal methods, chemical peels, and principles and techniques of makeup. Instruction will begin with lectures in the classroom and mannequin work. Students will then move to the clinic floor to perform the services learned on actual clients. Deer Valley College

Aesthetician students at Deer Valley College will learn through classroom lectures, hands-on practice, and provision of services in the student clinic. The training will cover facials, hair removal techniques including hard and soft wax, microdermabrasion, dermaplaning, light exfoliation with fruit acids, day and evening makeup, and eyelash application. Other topics include state laws, business management skills, sanitation, skin disorders, sterilization, communication, and customer service. The first 16 weeks will emphasize theoretical concepts and will be followed by supervised practice in the clinic where students will receive feedback from real clients. Students must obtain a score of 80% or higher on each course with a minimum grade of 80% and complete 100% of the course hours to move to each successive course and eventually graduate from the program.  Program graduates will be prepared to sit for the Arizona State Board of Cosmetology aesthetics licensing exam.

Aveda Institute

Aveda Institute’s Esthiology Program is designed to educate students in the services, processes, skills, and techniques used by professionals in the industry. The curriculum introduces the fundamentals of esthetics including facials, body waxing, body treatments, ethics, interpersonal skills, make up application, sanitation and safe work practices, and time management. Course modules include History of the Industry, Facial and Skin Care, Facial Makeup, Hair Removal, Laws and Regulations, Management and Salesmanship, and Safe Work Practices. Penrose Academy

Penrose Academy’s esthetics program provides students with the information required to succeed in the beauty industry. Theory and practice sessions aid the development of key skills that students need to provide clients with results-oriented treatments. Penrose Academy is aligned with SkinMedica products and peels giving students the opportunity to work with this cosmeceutical line. Course topics include skin treatments, dermaplaning, microdermabrasion, back facial, microneedling, principles of electricity and ecology, SkinMedica chemical peel training, skin analysis and equipment, facial and body waxing, brow shape and style, and Arizona State Board Test-Out. Practical sessions, conducted in the school’s 28-bed Spa, will let students work on live guests and receive feedback of their services. IMAj Institute gives aesthetics students a competitive edge in the beauty industry. The intensive, state-accredited program offers hands-on training in the basic and advanced procedures essential for a career as a licensed esthetician.
