Philadelphia Community College
The Welding Technology program is one of the advanced manufacturing programs offered by Philadelphia Community College. Instruction includes classroom lectures and hands-on training in welding fundamentals. Areas of study include principles of welding, occupational orientation and safety, manual aid carbon arc cutting, mechanized oxy-fuel gas cutting, welding drawing and symbol interpretation, and brazing and soldering. The curriculum meets the welding standards established by the National Center for Construction Education Research (NCCER). Classes meet Monday through Thursday in the evening or during the day on Saturdays. Graduates will have knowledge of geometry and good hand-eye coordination.

The certified welding programs offered at Philadelphia Technician Institute meets the standards of the welding industry. The program prepares students to fill the demand for professional welders in the Tri-State. The program includes hands-on technical and virtual reality training combined with essential business skills to prepare graduates for employment in the field of welding technology. Industrial Training and Testing Institute offers beginner courses for students with no previous background in welding and testing for professionals looking to obtain their MIG, TIG, and Stick Qualifications. Carpenters Apprentice School of Philadelphia & Vicinity
The introductory hands-on course welding training offered by JAC covers various types of welding and cutting to prepare students for entry-level employment. Hands-on training will include practice in oxyacetylene torch work and stick welding. Students have the option to take the American Welding Certification Test upon request. Attendance of the first night of class is mandatory. Failure to attend will result in dismissal from the program. 100% attendance is required for certification. Tardiness could also result in dismissal from the program.

All State Career
All State Career offers smaller than usual class sizes to maintain a low teacher-to-student ratio, which will enable instructors to meet the individual learning needs of each student. Course topics include an introduction to craft trade skills, career, development, mathematics for trades, oxy-fuel safety and operations, allied cutting processes, gas metal arc welding, welding technology, shielded metal arc welding, flux core arc welding safety and operations, gas tungsten arc welding safety and ops, gas tungsten arc welding advanced applications, and industrial welding certification preparation. Graduates will have a sense of accomplishment, confidence in practice, and a skillset that is in demand by welding employers. Morning and evening schedules are available. Morning classes meet Monday through Thursday from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm. Evening classes meet Monday through Thursday from 6:00 pm to 11:00 pm.
